Facebook HIATUS

Precisely why I'm taking a break from from Facebook.  My news feed is 75% or more baby and pregnancy blah.  I deleted the app off of my iPhone and iPad and am enjoying the peace that comes with less frequent jealousy and (at times) anger.  Does your news feed sound similar?  Try it.  You won't be disappointed...

Fair warning: just when you think you've protected yourself, Pinterest might catch you off-guard.  If someone starts pinning the hell out of maternity clothes and nursery crap, chances are...they're pregnant.  Don't follow up on Facebook like a creepy stalker to confirm (there's obviously no chance I've done this).  In the mean-time, I will continue to pin on my "Someday Baby" board.

  1. I'm not on an official hiatus, and I don't have too many pregnancy announcements showing up in my news feed (I don't think), but I have found that I'm just not that interested in FB lately. Maybe there are just too many other things to think about. Or all this IF stuff just makes me tired.

Glad to hear you're doing some self protecting! Enjoy your hiatus.

  2. I'm a huge fan of the unsubscribe option in the FB news feed. It's a pretty long list of people that I've unsubscribed from.

  3. I took a few breaks from FB too last February after my second failed IUI when I swear everyone (who didn't deserve babies, or had JUST gotten married, or were my ex) announced they were pregnant. But it is funny, after that huge spurt they seemed to slow down (of course then all those babies were born). Take a break when you need it, you can always come back when you have your own announcement to make :).

  4. Here from ICLW...I can SO relate to this post. I had 3 pg announcements on FB this week. Not sure why I don't just get rid of it. I guess I find joy in self torture?! And just in case the announcements weren't enough from people on my FB, I now see their comments to THEIR friends on u/s pics, baby announcements, etc. I haven't yet figured out why FB thinks we want to see what our friends are saying to their friends.

Wishing you the best with your FET in April :)

  5. Happy ICLW! Love this image. I've unsubscribed from a few overly active pregnant f'bookers and yes was totally caught off guard by a flurry of preggo pins! I also blocked those. Best of luck with April!
