Papillary CARCINOMA

It's thyroid cancer.  My hubby has thyroid cancer.  He has an appointment Tuesday morning to find out what's next.  Looks like he'll definitely be having his thyroid and the remaining swollen lymph nodes removed at some point, followed by radiation.  Apparently if you're going to have cancer, this is one of the "better" ones to have.  It's slow-spreading with a 90% + survival rate.  I'm confident he's going to be okay.  I just hate to see him go through this.  It breaks my heart.  Your continued thoughts and prayers are appreciated.

On a happier note, our ultrasound is Wednesday.  We're really trying our best to separate the two insane, life-altering events going on right now.  We hope to see one (or two!) strong little heartbeat(s)...

  1. I am sorry to hear that your husband has cancer. 90% survival rate is very positive news though. I will keep him in my thoughts that treatment goes smoothly. Good luck on ultrasound Wednesday!

  2. Oh gosh, I am so sorry. My coworker's husband has this, but it started out as Melanoma. He is considering his options now as well. I wish cancer was somehow erradicated from earth, it sucks so bad. I pray for health and a quick recovery for his as you both juggle this new developement. My hubby has to deal with something he has been putting off for a while as well and we are worried how it will all turn out. We shouldn't have to have so much negative stuff to deal with as we embark on this other happy journey.

  6. My best friend's husband just went through this! He had his thyroid removed, but didn't have to have radiation. I know it's super scary and I really hope everything goes smoothly for both of you!

  14. Oh no, this isn't the news I was hoping for. I am sorry. If knowing of other's is helpful...I had a friend who had thyroid cancer more than 10 years ago. She is fine now, and has been since her treatment. I'll be thinking of you and praying that his treatment and recovery go quickly and well. Take care.

  15. I know that I am a total internet stranger, connected only by this thing called infertility, BUT, I do know 2 people who have had thyroid cancer and successfully beaten it, within a relativly short period of time. I know that probably doesn't take the sting out of hearing the C word, but I can only pray his treatment is short and that you get back to planning all of the wonderful things to come.
